Stamped and decorative concrete lets you get the look of pavers, natural stone, or brick for driveways, patios, and walkways — without the material cost or the long-term joint maintenance pavers require.

Pattern & Color Options

We offer common stamp patterns including ashlar slate, running-bond brick, cobblestone, and wood plank, combined with integral coloring, broadcast color hardener, or acid staining depending on the look you want. Most projects combine two colors — a base tone with an accent release color worked into the stamping process for depth and shadow lines that mimic real stone joints.

Cost Premium vs. Standard Concrete

Expect to pay $14–$22 per square foot for stamped or decorative work, compared to $8–$13 for standard broom finish. The added cost covers coloring materials, the stamping labor itself, and a quality sealer application. For a patio or driveway where appearance matters as much as function, most homeowners find the premium worthwhile compared to pavers, which run considerably higher and require joint sand maintenance over time.

Sealing Requirements in Missouri's Climate

Sealer is not optional on decorative concrete — it's what protects the color and pattern from UV fading, de-icing salt damage, and moisture intrusion that can cause spalling over freeze-thaw cycles. We recommend resealing every 2–3 years. Unsealed or poorly maintained stamped concrete will fade and can develop surface damage well before the structural slab itself would fail.

Stamped Concrete FAQ

How much more does stamped concrete cost than plain concrete?
Stamped and decorative concrete typically costs $14–$22 per square foot, roughly 60–100% more than standard broom-finish concrete at $8–$13 per square foot. The premium covers coloring, the stamping process, and sealing.
What patterns and colors are available?
Common stamp patterns include ashlar slate, running bond brick, cobblestone, and wood plank. Coloring options include integral color mixed into the concrete, color hardener broadcast on the surface, and acid staining for a mottled, natural look. We'll bring samples to your estimate.
Does stamped concrete need to be resealed?
Yes. We recommend resealing every 2–3 years in Missouri's climate. Sealer protects the color and pattern from UV fading, de-icing salt, and moisture intrusion — skipping it shortens the life of the decorative finish significantly.
Is stamped concrete slippery when wet?
A quality sealer includes slip-resistant additive, and most stamp patterns have enough texture to provide reasonable traction. For pool decks specifically, we recommend a texture with more grip, which we can discuss during your estimate.
